Press and Communications Manager

Job Description

MACK is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Press and Communications Manager to lead media outreach and communications on our list of critically acclaimed books on art, architecture, critical theory, cinema, and photography. This role is ideal for a skilled communicator with a passion for contemporary publishing and the arts, who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key point of contact for MACK’s authors in the launch of their books
  • Plan and deliver high-quality publicity campaigns across print, broadcast, and digital media
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and editors, and proactively expand MACK’s global outreach 
  • Manage all external communications, ensuring these align with MACK’s brand
  • Develop and implement creative and strategic communications and marketing campaigns across newsletters, social media, and digital advertising
  • Collaborate with our sales, marketing, design, and editorial teams to create press and communications materials, and to ensure that press pieces are maximised across the company
  • Monitor media coverage, and produce regular reports for use across sales and editorial teams

Required Skills & Experience
  • Prior experience in publicity or communications is strongly preferred
  • A proven knowledge of contemporary art book publishing and media outlets
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence in building relationships with authors, journalists, and editors
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to convincingly pitch books and ideas
  • A proactive, collaborative team player who is eager to learn and contribute across departments
Details
  • The job will be report directly to the Head of Communications
  • The role is full time, based in our studio in southeast London
  • Salary range £30,000–£35,000, commensurate with experience
  • Start date as soon as possible

Production Assistant & Logistics Administrator   

Job Description

We are seeking a Production Assistant & Logistics Administrator to join our team to support our Design & Production Department. This role closely follows the production of books and will be responsible for overseeing the international movement of stock from our suppliers to our warehouses. While no prior experience is required, we’re looking for a highly organised candidate who demonstrates an enthusiasm for learning about book production. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with printers and binderies to ensure the timely delivery of our books to the warehouse in order to meet our publication dates
  • Coordinate shipping consignments, including managing timelines and costings
  • Prepare shipment documentation and liaise with carriers to organise shipping
  • Prepare shipments to authors, including match prints, proofs, material samples and advance copies
  • Work with Design team to prepare promotional materials for fairs, bookstores, and events
  • Work with Design team to prepare physical book maquettes for presentations
  • Organise artist materials, including arranging scanning and photography with external companies
  • Oversee the production of MACK stationary and packaging
  • Order paper and linen samples from suppliers
  • Assess the quality of printed material to ensure our standard is maintained 


Required Skills & Experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and schedule tasks effectively
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Capacity for anticipating problems and proposing solutions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Self-driven and able to keep colleagues and suppliers on track
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Basic math skills
  • Interest in expanding skills through available training in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge)
  •  Italian or German language skills desired

Details
  • This is a full-time position based in our South East London studio.
  • Salary £27,000 – £30,000 commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits include employee profit share scheme, generous pension scheme, and Gym membership.
