We are delighted to announce MACK 939, a new reading room opening within Webber's Los Angeles gallery at 939 S Santa Fe Ave. This collaboration looks to develop a lively programme of events and exhibitions which contributes to the bourgeoning culture and community of downtown Los Angeles. The city has always held a special place in our hearts: a home to many of our treasured authors and partner institutions, it has fostered a great deal of the ground-breaking work we have been fortunate to publish.
The reading room will open to the public on Saturday 2 September alongside an exhibition of works by esteemed American/Argentine photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti, coinciding with the launch of the long-awaited new edition of Sanguinetti’s first book On the Sixth Day.
In homage to our new list of architecture books, the reading room has been designed by the renowned British/Dutch architect, Alex de Rijke, and will be a place where visitors can browse our new and classic titles.
Stay tuned to learn more about our plans for the space, and we hope to see you at the opening on 2 September.
About 939
939 is an exhibition and event space in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, sitting within 2700 sq ft of an old industrial printworks building. It is our mission that 939 will be the home to a flourishing artist led program of photography, sculpture, performance, sound and moving image. Less of a conventional gallery space, it will be a fluid and open environment, energized by a deep connection with the local community.
