Taken over the last decade in Los Angeles, Hsu’s photographs epitomise the contradictions of the city, entangling allusions to hope and despair, beauty and pain in an atmospheric and uncanny sequence. These disparate and dissonant strands reach a beguiling harmony, looking to destruction as a source of change and rebirth.
